Greetings Friend:
This is an open letter written to potential members from the president of Strictly Street Rods as an introduction to our club. This club was founded in 1975 by a group of people active in the street rod hobby in the Kankakee area. As this hobby has changed through the years so has the club as we opened our doors to cars that were not just street rods even though we still hold street rods as our primary interest in the hobby. Street rods for those that do not know are modified pre 1948 cars and trucks.
We would like to thank you for your interest in our club. By now you may have noticed the reference to our club. The club is operated by our membership, owned by our members, and has no connections to any other organizations. We meet in various places on a fairly regular monthly basis. We have held a swap meet in January for many years and a car show in June. We hope that our members are a part of those activies. Unlike some we do not require members attend activities sponsored by our club or any other club. Meetings are conducted in an orderly manner but as you might see we do not use a strict prescribed business forum. We have had several years of successful events and have supported several activities. Those ranging from the car show, swap meet, charitable donations and even a scholarship. Our purpose revolves around friendship with our members, other enthusiasts, and promoting our hobby.
With this being said the process of becoming a member is as follows. You must attend 3 meeting prior to asking for membership, dues are $25 , and the membership must vote on your admittance into the club. We would hope that you would take the time to get to know our members at you introduction meetings. That is the purpose of those meeting; we consider that being part of this group is a privilege and that you support our members and our purpose. We also respect your decision to join us as your option.
Thank
David Webster
